Preakness 2016: Horses Pramedya and Homeboykris Die at Early Preakness Day Races

Maryland-bred Homeboykris, a 9-year-old horse that ran in the 2010 Kentucky Derby, collapsed and died after winning the first race at Pimlico Race Course on Saturday, according to a Pimlico official.

More misfortune struck in the final turn of Race 4 when Pramedya, a 4-year-old filly running out of the No. 8 position, collapsed on the turf and suffered a left-fron mid-cannon-bone fracture. She was euthanized on the track.

  1. When he was 3, My Uncle and I almost claimed HomeboyKris. we knew he had issues. When I saw him listed and 20-1 I checked out his record but many hurt horses run one good one and 2 to 3 bad ones. He was due and when I saw that bet him hard I knew something was up. I would guarantee that he was injected with a legal medicine but at a higher level than allowed within 3 days to a race. When a horse takes money like that it is inside betting. If I had seen it i would have wanted to see it. He, like many geldings, for a short period of time was a stake horse and they run until they die sadly.
